For those who want the ultimate in optical performance, ED apochromat is the choice. There are different definitions in terms of apochromat in the market.

Cited from Mr. Thomas M. Back who is a famous optical lens designer in the world, his definition of apochromats is the following: An objective in which the wave aberrations do not exceed 1/4 wave optical path difference (OPD) in the spectral range from C (6563A - red) to F (4861A - blue), while the g wavelength (4358A - violet) is 1/2 wave OPD or better, has three widely spaced zero color crossings and is corrected for coma. Along with the advancement of optical materials, it is becoming feasible to make apochromats at relative low cost. This kind of glass is usually called ED glass standing for extra-low dispersion. Therefore, an apochromat made with ED glasses is better than achromats made with conventional glasses.

Our ED apochromats are made of two very high homogeneity ED glasses, full multi-coatings on all required surfaces, a fully temperature compensated lens cell, and zonal correcting non-equal internal radii. Computer optimizing these elements allow our lenses to satisfy the most serious planetary and deep space observer, as well as the most critical CCD or photographic user.
